SAY WHAT?

Dubious protest slogans on signs and T-shirts Monday:

1. "Burritos for Obama"

2. "Homo-sex is a threat to national security"

3. "Send Bush/Cheney to The Hague"

MISSING MOB

3 protesters were inside the official Protest Zone at the Pepsi Center at 2 p.m.

* "I keep looking for other members of my group, but I don't think they're coming," said one of the three, Phil Cornwell, 59, a Littleton truck driver with the anti-tax group Restore the Republic.

NOT THE ROSE PARADE

19 cloth lotus flowers were on the Falun Dafa float, which they towed all the way from Pasadena to participate in Monday's protest parade.

BRAZEN SCOFFLAWS

"There are 53 police at this corner, and three people just ran a red light!"

Overheard at California Street and the 16th Street Mall, where police had mobilized in response to a shouting match between pro-gay and anti-gay activists.

THE ART OF PROTEST

* Best political theater: Protesters from The World Can't Wait staged a mock waterboarding in front of the Federal Courthouse to protest U.S. torture tactics.

* Best visual presentation: The Manjushri Project in Crested Butte erected a breathtaking mosque-like fabric tent in Civic Center showing images of people in Iran to give viewers a sense of connection with that culture.

* Best audio presentation: Falan Dafa, a group of Falun Gong practitioners who want to call attention to persecution of their peers in China, organized a 50-piece marching band to play America the Beautiful while members marched from the Civic Center to the Pepsi Center.
